The Apple Website: A Demonstration of Great Design: very minimal

Visit the Apple website from time to time and what do you see?  Incredible images of fantastic products all framed by a very minimal gray-scale design.  Great products are superbly photographed and take center stage.  "Content is king" reigns in this light - great products need little design in showing them off.  Facebook - another example of minimal design is such so that the stories of it's members are front and center - a drastic difference to MySpace which is quickly being overtaken by Facebook.  We live in an era now where packaging of every form is under constant scrutiny by a very savy media consumer.  The opinions in mass are getting easier and easier to access enforcing
