Social networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), the iPhone, cloud computing - The Internet that many were finally getting their head around and accepting as the way is exploding into it's new form.  What began as little more than a friendly way to mark up text in 1993 (the first web page) has by and large been the standard for the past 15 years and the skin of that lizard is getting ready to shed. 

The planets are aligning

phones, cameras, netbook are rivaling what only the pros had just 10 years ago.  Virtual (and free) collaboration (Google Docs, DropBox) outpaces what only the bigger corporations did at lighting speed and efficiency.  Mobile computing is racing to meet the demand of doing everything from anywhere with devices that sit in the palm of your hand.

Kids are showing us the future

They're wired & connected - the talk and text fast.  They all want the iPhone or iPod Touch.
