Rdio.com Trumps Apple & Other Music Services

I'm not surprised if you've not tried rdio.com - who needs yet another Internet service or social media portal to complicate an already overwhelming sea of digital noise.

But Rdio.com is different than anything I've seen....it's represents what everyone wants - it delivers the content instantly.

Napster was my first real experience with getting music online and it was my tipping point on consuming music online. But the quality and morality issues we're quickly side stepped with the next greatest music venue - iTunes. Even before an iPod, buying any music I wanted for only 99 cents was a godsend.

And now there's Rdio.com which exceeds every online music experience I've had to date and perhaps more importantly points to the larger trend of delivering content NOW.

With Rdio.com, you subscribe for either $5 or $10 per month (higher $ for unlimited mobile downloads) and you simply play any song or album that's ever been released. Ok, not ever, but the library is giant, growing and current. And let me state this again - you just play it. You don't sample and then purchase and download, you just hit play and that's it. While many struggle with the ongoing monthly payment, I've come to ask - do you need to own your own library of music when you play everything, whenever you want?

The iTunes library is getting an upgrade where you'll be able to preview music for a minute now rather than then the standard 30 seconds. Pashaw. With Rdio.com there's no preview, no waiting for the download after the purchase - you just listen, consume. Netflix stock recently jumped when they released an iPhone ap for accessing their instant library.

If you want a completely new musical adventure, consider exploring Rdio.com's immense library without limits. If you're in the business of delivering online content, take note of the trend towards NOW.
