I don't know shit about Fu...

Fu-tography

…or better stated, how to use this camera which I took all of these photos with. This is the Sony A6000 and the Sony f 1.8 prime lens, and I never learned it’s functionality but it literally is point and shoot so I really just focus on getting good angles while the prime lens creates these amazing bokeh, blurred backgrounds which helps keep the subject as the focal point of the shot.

None of these shots used any additional lighting or flash which is why I regard this camera as the most powerful and easiest visual marketing tool I’ve invested in.

And it shoots killer video!

The backstory

I purchased this entry-level camera on the recommendation of my master photographer and videographer partner Andrew Schones from Both and Pictures and immediately out of the box, I was taking the best pictures I’ve ever taken in my life with this camera and lens.

I watched a lot of YouTube videos to try to learn how to use the settings on this camera better, but nothing really stuck because it just takes such great pictures. I’m familiar with shutter speed and f-stop, but I can’t really explain it to anyone and even though I’ve learned at one point how to use these options on the camera more effectively, I never do anything but shoot pictures.

People will often comment that I am a good photographer but I don’t feel I am anything but someone who snaps a lot of pictures from a lot of different angles and just picks the best ones. A good photographer knows their equipment — I don’t — at all.

“I don’t know shit about Fu-tography”

The clip of Ruth from the Netflix series Ozark has been trending and I felt opening with this play on that meme would get people’s attention as I roll into the 30 second telling of this story. With these video shorts, it’s important to open with a quick hook and this was a fun one to try. What did you think?

Pics featured in the video

Most of these pics were taken in landscape mode and then cropped to the 9x16 mode for the TikTok/Reels/Shorts mobile video aspect ratio. You can definitely get a better feel for how great this camera is by viewing the full size versions below.
